Dear Cynthia and Billy,
I'm so sorry I cannot be there today to say good-bye to a dear friend and someone who was truly a part of our family. Growing up, you guys were always considered our neighbors! :) I have so many fond memories, I don't even know where the start. First off was the "party-line". Yes, we were connected by a party-line back in the day and I remember picking up and hearing Margaret on the phone. Too funny and my how times have changed.
Of course the tobacco days! Oh my goodness. I remember wanting so badly to work in tobacco but not being old enough so my job from Margaret was to hand sticks to those tying. She made me feel mighty important. Wow, the years we all worked together and worked hard but of course we were treated to her good old-fashioned homecooking at lunch time. mmmm mmmm!
As I became older and eventually moved away, during my visits home, I always enjoyed my "runs" down Dixie Bridge Road that always seem to have a special stop. Margaret always made time for me and goodness knows, conversation was not lacking. It will not be the same, that's for sure.
Not to mention, too, she was one person who could give Dad a run for his money. They were constantly bickering about who was older! Of course they both knew, Dad was. :)
She isin my thoughts today as she is laid to rest. There are many people she is leaving behind who have just as fond memories as she was a very special woman - a hard-working, farm woman with a heart of gold!
Margaret, rest in peace. Lots of love, Patsy
