Ann Copley Baxter, 91, died December 2, 2017. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, James Baird “Bob” Baxter, Jr.; eldest daughter, Paige Baxter Horan; sister, Nancy Leigh Copley; brother, Thomas Walker Copley; and her parents, Thomas Leigh and Anna Mae Copley of South Hill, VA. She is survived by daughter, Marian (Warren) Baxter Felton; sons, Leigh and Mark (Freda); granddaughters, Sarah, Kelly, Paige, Ruth and Anna; niece and nephew, Michelle and Joseph Copley; and many cousins.

Ann was born in Chatham, VA, grew up in Raleigh, NC and earned a Bachelor’s degree in home economics from the Women’s College of UNC, Greensboro. Married in 1948, the couple settled in Norfolk, VA in 1959 with their 4 children. They retired to the Copley family farm in 1974. Ann was a devoted member of South Hill United Methodist Church.

The family will receive friends at her home from 4:00 to 6:00 on Friday, Dec. 8. A graveside funeral service will be held a noon on Saturday, December 9, 2017 followed by a Celebration of Life Service at South Hill United Methodist Church at 1pm.
