Mrs. Lorene Jones Tanner passed away peacefully on Monday, July 17, 2017 in Cary, NC. She was born June 16, 1921 in Warrenton, NC and lived most of her life in Palmer Springs, VA. She attended Women’s College of NC in Greensboro, NC and worked for many years at the Bank of VA in Boydton, VA. She and her husband were active members of Grace Episcopal Church in Palmer Springs.

Mrs. Tanner was preceded in death by her husband, Jacob Thomas “Jake” Tanner and sons, Joseph Speed Jones Tanner and Joseph Speed Jones Tanner, II. She is survived by her children Tom Tanner (Leone) of McLean, VA, Nancy Tanner Mazzocchi (Leo) of Cary, NC, and Pettway Tanner Brands (Dick) of Taylorsville, NC; daughter in law, Verna Tanner (widow of Joseph) of Palmer Springs, VA and 8 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be conducted 11am, Thursday, July 20 at Grace Episcopal Church in Palmer Springs. The family request memorial considerations be directed to Grace Episcopal Church, c/o Leigh Josey, 4079 Black Oak Road, Hickory, NC 28602.
