Gary L. Cameron, son of Lenard and Gertrude Cameron departed this life on October 18, 2018. He was born on December 4, 1936 in Holmes Iowa and later he and his family relocated to Osage, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Neil and Lynn, and a sister Beverly along with a son, Douglas Keith. He is survived by his wife, Kim and sister, Cheryl (husband John). He was an Iowa State graduate where he was a proud Iowa State lettered wrestler. He regularly attended the National Collegiate Wrestling Championships and was a big supporter of the Iowa State Wrestling program. He became a YMCA Program Director in Burlington, Iowa after which he took the position of YMCA-USO Executive Director in Portsmouth, VA. The is became his full time career and he served in the capacity of Executive director for the Armed Services YMCA-USO organizations in Philadelphia, PA, Tidewater, VA, and his final tour before retiring was at Fort Monroe in Hampton, VA. He was a proud supporter of all our servicemen and women and loved providing them a home away from home. He was a Shriner and a Mason and for many years active in various organizations.

After retirement he and his wife Kim, moved to Brunswick County Va. where he
farmed, something that was loved because of his Iowa roots.

Gary and Kim were blessed with a wonderful blended family sharing many
cherished memories. His surviving family consists of his daughter Kristi, and son
Daniel( wife Kathy), Kim's two sons Will and Clint, grandchildren Dani-Lea,
Hannah, Keith, Sophie, Emma, Gabriela and Leanna, along with 3 great
grandchildren, Aashlyn, Dayton, and Shea.

A private service will be held for the family with request that any donations be
made to Duke Hospice and Homecare, 4023 N. Roxboro St., Durham, NC.
