Obituary for Helen Evans Tucker

Helen Evans  Tucker
Mrs. Helen Evans Tucker, age 77 of South Hill, died Sunday, June 17, 2018. She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Arnold G. Tucker and three children, Debbie Moore (Steve), Gary Tucker (Beverly), and Angie Myers (Jeff). Also surviving are eight grandchildren; Faith, Tiffany, Matthew, Kaitlyn, Madison, Skylar, Tucker, and Kassidy; two great-grandchildren, Rylee and Beau; a sister, Gladys R. Jones of Norlina; two sister-in-laws, Louise Evans of Boydton and Laura Royster King of Blackridge; brother in law, James D Tucker of South Hill, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Helen was a seamstress for many years and enjoyed caring for children, In addition to caring for many children who called her “Mama Tucker,” she raised three of her own grandchildren, Faith, Matthew and Madison. She loved watching her son and grandchildren play in various sporting events as well as watching NASCAR and pulling for the 24 car of Jeff Gordon. Helen was always ready to play BINGO, play cards with family and friends, and always enjoyed a biscuit at Bojangles in the morning. She was a faithful member of Bethany Baptist Church and a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion and VFW.

Funeral services will be conducted 2pm Wednesday, June 20 at Farrar Funeral Chapel with interment to follow in Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:30 – 8 at the funeral home. Memorial considerations are asked to be directed to Alzheimer’s Association, Southeastern VA Chapter, 6350 Center Drive, Ste 102, Norfolk, VA 23502 or Bethany Baptist Church, P O Box 119, Baskerville, VA 23915.
